Hi everyone,

I heard this segment about yoga in Iran on the BBC this morning.  We often touch on the "is yoga a religion" question, so it was very interesting to hear this perspective from inside an Islamic state such as Iran.

  1. So is Part 2 not on there yet? I looked for it, but don't see it...I assume that it's coming soon...

  2. Towards the end when she interviews someone from the state, did I hear him say that Islam pre-dates yoga? Did anyone else catch that? But if the start of Islam was with the prophet Mohammed and the "start of yoga" was with Patanjali and the Sutras, how could this be? Can anyone speak to this for clarification? I had to look it up, but the prophet Mohammed was 6th/7th century, and Patanjali is believed to be 2nd/3rd century. Even though there are a lot of questions surrounding the history of Patanjali, this is still a significant range in origin...

  3. I haven't watched the segment but I do have quite a bit of insight about Islam. Muslims believe that Islam is the original religion. Therefore Islam would date back to Adam and Eve...the beliefs taught to them by God. According to Muslims, Islam predates every other belief system. Mohammed is considered to be the last of many messengers sent with the same message of monotheism.

  4. Ok, thanks! So the Christians say pretty much the same thing, except they believe Jesus was the son of God, while others say he was a prophet, so do you know what the Christians say/believe about the prophet Mohammed?

  5. Most Christians I've encountered consider Mohammed a false prophet. That's not to say that all Christians feel that way.
